Principal's Message

Greetings Garfield Elementary Community,

I'd like to welcome you back for the 2017-18 school year.  I hope you had a very restful summer.  We got a lot done here at Garfield.  I'm very happy to say that we had close to 150 students participate in our summer school program.  Attendance was fantastic!  Thanks again staff members, parents and students who participated in our summer session.

Garfield Elementary staff completed training in Benchmark Advance curriculum this summer, and the new textbooks for Language Arts were delivered to our site for both staff and students.

You may have noticed all the construction that took place over the summer as new air conditioning units ere installed throughout the school.  We also had new LED lighting fixtures installed in all of our classrooms.  This was just the first phase of things to come in the way of facilities in our school district.

Most of the students who took the bus after school last year have continued to be transported to Ford Park Adult School to be picked up there by parents in an effort to alleviate congestion at the front of the school.  We still have space for approximately 15 more students on the bus.  If interested, please speak to Lupe Aguila in the front office to reserve a seat.

Finally, we will be hosting Back to School Night on September 6th from 4:30 - 6:30pm. We look forward to meeting with all of you.  Come meet your child's new teacher or teachers and grab a bite to eat.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call our front office.

Respectfully,

Mr. David Hernandez

Principal
